'Raw Toronto'

The last image is picture of myself!(my hair is pretty short now) I shared one of my favorite Japanese restaurants, 'Ematei.'

Computer Arts Magazine (Korean Edition), Exposure Interview

Computer Arts Magazine did a short interview with me. This magazine is UK based, and they have several international editions. I didn't know that there's Korean edition as well until I was asked. Each month, they are asking several artists from all over the world, and I was lucky to be one of them.
So, everyting is writtne in Korean of course, and if you are in Korea, please check out the CA Magazine (May 2011). (They are using new 'CA' logo along with the original logo)

Recently, I was invited from Gallery Nucleus in LA to contribute to their charity project called Power in Numbers. I was actually surprised when I found out that this gallery is quite well known and some of the illustrators I like, such as Scott Bakal and Sam Wolfe are involved in the project as well. I'm just glad that I can take part in it, and some proceeds will be donate to charities.
I will update some new work in the near future, so stay tuned!

I am happy to participate in upcoming art show called 'When a Stranger Calls a Friend of a Friend' @ Project 165.
The theme is 'legend' and the image had to be literal depiction of particular legends, not obscure references thereof.
SO, i drew one of the scenes from the korean legend, 'the fairy and the woodcutter'
The curator for this show Ryan will have an image for the show after this weekend. So far, i only know the exhibition dates!

my dearest friend Hannah and i promised to do a portrait of each other during the summer. Actually I did one on the wood, but i didnt like the outcome, so i tried to redo it. For this time, i used the technique that ive learned from Gillian's drawing and painting class: using only (mostly) warm and cool colours to describe the tones....(ps. Gillian's class is SOOOOO FUN!!!!! she's awesome. )

There was an event for Tourism Toronto @ MTCC today, and 4 artists including myself had to paint @ the front gate of Metro Toronto Convention Centre for about 6 hours.
Our painting had to be about something unique to Toronto, and i decided to draw my rabbit character with some toronto building toys(CN Tower, OCAD main building-not clear tho..), him wearing superman outfit, since the artist of Superman Joe Shuster is a famous Torontonian!

a lot of ppl came, and i was kinda nervous in the beginning, but it was ok overall since they were so busy doing their business :)

this (Ad) illustration is for a pill named "solvestra" that basically solve any problems. (mixed media, 15"x21")

thank you all !! those who enjoyed my hero "solvestra" with the guy having hard time in a washroom . i didn't expect too much because i changed my original sketch in the last minute and i wasn't sure if it's working or not. and i should scan it sometimes- it's a bit blurry and the egdes are cut off a little lol

anywayyyy, after one more project for sequential narrative class, everything is done
for this semester!!!
i hope i can draw something special in korea too (in 2 weeks!)

This was the fourth assignment we did in Graham's class. one of my favourite assignments!!
we could choose either a cover for The New Yorker magazine or American Illustration.
I decided to do a seasonal cover for the New Yorker and here is my Gingerbread NYC with gingerbread men!!! :)

and i agree with everyone's feedback- using fewer of the buildings and making them simple, tone down the background, and etc.. i will work on it more later!!!

this is the one i've done in the summer. (ko hsin and i decided to do some work during the summer and here it is! i guess this was the first one i did...and i was too lazy to finish other paintings...lol)
I tried to make the clothing as a focal point- actually this topic was the one that i decided, cuz i really wanted to draw/paint something related to FASHION stuff..:)
i copied a painting that somebody had done before (forgot the artist's name), and changed the whole colour pallete and the focal point. it's bit sad that it's not my original art work .. haha
but i like the purple skin and it's background, it was a fun exercise~

this assignment was to create an image for the holiday card, without using religious elements- so we shouldn't use christmas trees, angels, Santas, red and green...and so on, becaue it was for the international corporation.
it was pretty fun but harder than what i thougt cuz i coudnt use "Christmas" elements- if i have time, i will finish my other sketches too and will colour them!

it was our first assignment we did in illustration 3 class
we had to use 3 classified ads, and creating one illustration for each ad that work together- i did only use two classified ads and one normal ad.. so it's hard to understand without seeing the ads
and my story is weird... a sad rabbit is riding a bycicle and somehow a vitamin falls in love with her.. but accidently the rabbit eats the vitamin... so the sad rabbit becomes very happy and she doens know why...-_- and the vitamin is sad now
